Humanity and the Earth are in a crisis. We have put at risk the systems that all of life depends on for survival. The solution to the crisis, if there is one, must include a profound reorientation of the human psyche, a spiritual revolution, a change of heart and mind. Join us for this day of conversation and inquiry into the internal and external roots of the ecological crisis. What does a contemplative perspective say about the ecological crisis and how does it help us respond to the challenges we face? How do we live when the familiar world we inhabit is profoundly out of balance with natural processes?
All are welcome regardless of religious or spiritual background.
We do recommend comfort with sitting in silence
and with addressing challenging issues of ecological distress and personal change.

John Crockett is a writer, musician, and nature sound recordist who is inspired by the voices of the Earth. He has studied the vocal communication of humpback whales, songbirds and gray seals. He and his partner, Cynthia Hughes, formed the musical duo Coracle in 2005, which blends Celtic harp, cello, Irish whistles and natural soundscape recordings to create programs of Celtic and original music inspired by the land and the sea and their creatures. John has worked with the Whale Conservation Institute/Ocean Alliance, the Blue Ocean Society for Marine Conservation, Massachusetts Audubon Society and the Environmental Studies Department at Antioch University New England. He has been engaged with contemplative and meditative practices for more than 35 years.
