At the close of the first chapter in her book The Meaning of Mary Magdalene, Cynthia Bourgeault asks: “But why, one wonders, do the Holy Week liturgies tell and re-tell the story of Peter’s threefold denial of Jesus, while the steady, unwavering witness of Magdalene is not even noticed? What if, instead of emphasizing that Jesus died alone and rejected, we reinforced that one stood by him and did not leave?"
This is an invitation to practice together during the first days of Holy Week. To gently begin to enter into the heart of what it might be to ‘stand by’ in the spirit of Mary Magdalene. Conscious love; awake presence; witness of the heart; these will be the themes that create the vessel for the practices of silent prayer, conscious work, wisdom chant, movement, lectio divina and sacred conversation.
Practice Circle Guides: Laura Ruth & Kerstin Lipke.
Practice Circle begins: Palm Sunday, March 20th at 6:00pm with a light supper.
Practice Circle ends: Tuesday, March 22nd at 3pm after lunch.
For those interested, there will be an additional 'desert day' starting after
lunch on Tuesday until 2pm on Wednesday March 23rd.
Cost: All are welcome at Hallelujah Farm. The usual contribution for a 2-day Practice Circle is $200. However, we are grateful for your contribution in the amount you feel you can afford. Checks are payable to Laura Ruth.
Venue: Accommodations are in shared double rooms.
