Insight Dialogue brings the mindfulness and tranquility of traditional silent meditation practice into our contact with others. It offers a way of cultivating sustained concentration and mindfulness as we investigate patterns of stress and reactivity. This co-meditative practice allows us to face the complexity of the relational dimension with awareness, and true investigation into the nature of suffering and its release can begin. Our fears soften, and trust and calm settle, anchored in wisdom and compassion.
The Buddha taught that the way to peace, joy and happiness is release; a state of mind and heart not driven by a relentless insistence that our life and relationships, in this moment, be other than they are. This capacity for freedom, for letting go of attachment, aversion and separation, is available to each of us in every moment but is often obscured by our agitated minds and bodies, and our wounded hearts. In this retreat we will investigate the development and sustaining of shared mental states of lovingkindness, compassion, appreciative joy, and equanimity as a foundation for practicing the release of suffering in our lives and relationships.
In this auspicious time of summer solstice and beautiful rural surroundings, we will alternate periods of internal silent meditation, Insight Dialogue practice and Yoga. Noble Silence will be maintained throughout.
