Join us during the first, long days of summer to gather for a vibrant weekend of contemplative practices guided by the four-quadrant Benedictine rhythm of ora et labora - praying and working, alone and together.
We will practice centering prayer, lectio divina, sacred chant and contemplative movement with a primary focus on ‘conscious work', being with an inner task while working on an outer task. This experiential process of gentle self-observation is an opportunity to explore the power of attention. It is an invitation to become aware of habitual patterns while awakening to a sense of aliveness in the body and in the moment. The possibilities are endless for integrating this practice of presence into daily life!
There will be opportunities for light work outdoors as well as inside, so bring your work clothes! Simple activities of daily life will serve as the outer work tasks for this potent contemplative practice.
This is a wonderful opportunity to deepen your contemplative life within a community of support. People of all spiritual traditions (or none) are welcome. The only prerequisite is prior experience with or interest in silent prayer or meditation.
Guides: Laura Ruth & Kerstin Lipke.
Practice Circle begins: Friday, June 24th at 5:00pm with a light supper.
Practice Circle ends: Sunday, June 26th at 2pm after lunch.
Cost: The suggested contribution for a weekend Practice Circle is $200. However, we are grateful for your support in the amount you feel you can afford. Accommodations are in shared double rooms. Single rooms may be available upon request.
Information & Registration: Contact Laura Ruth at laurampruth@gmail.com. A $50 registration fee is due by June 17th. Please mail to Laura Ruth at 17 North Bear Swamp Road, North Middlesex Vermont 05682.
